Pre-Race Gathering & Afterparty

Participant Events – join the FUN!!

You’re invited to our Pre-race Gathering ”A Taste & Song of Cork” from 19:30-21:00 in the Idle Hour Pub, on Friday 2 June. Gather with other crews and our host club Naomhóga Chorcaí to get the inside tips on the race, the courses and the harbour. A warm welcome to our visiting participants, with traditional Irish music by The Siné’s and free food tasters from Cork.

Join the ”Apres Row” After Party directly after the prize giving, at 20:30 on 3 June at the Idle Hour & Goldberg pubs on Albert Quay. Unwind after the tough race and celebrate your achievements with a cold drink, food and lots of craic. Will include participative Dance & Music event by ”Gotha” – not to be missed! Hosted by Naomhóga Chorcaí.

Gotha ([guh-hah], meaning ‘Gesture’ in Irish) is an improvised music group based in Cork, Ireland which uses Rhythm with Signs, an Argentinian sign language, to create collective compositions.
Rhythm with Signs is a new way of conducting improvisation in which, through a language of around 150 signs made with the hands and the body, musical improvisations can be organized.
This language was invented by the percussionist, producer and composer Santiago Vazquez, who first put it into practice in 2006 with his percussion group La Bomba de Tiempo in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A powerful tool for organizing percussion as well as innovative melodic and harmonic improvisation – the language spread quickly to bands in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Italy and Japan among others.
